For my digital poster project, I choose interactive smartboards as my professional technological tool, focusing on the use of these smartboards in elementary schools, the pros and cons of using/implementing these devices, and it's professional uses in the classroom. Some professional uses include notetaking on the board as a collective, presenting media and visual enhancers for learning, and others mentioned on the poster! I choose this tool because I grew up in classrooms that were lucky enough to have these boards, and it helped greatly in increasing collaboration efforts among students and teachers and made the curriculum more engaging and easier to grasp as a result. Smartboards can also accomodate different learning styles for children, and although some teachers might struggle adapting to the new technology, the interactive programs on the touchscreen as well as chance to present audio could help better facilitate the learning process between teachers and students alike. While I know that many schools might not be able to locate the funding for these smartboards in every classroom, it's important to bring it up in a county's or district's next budget plan for the fiscal year and raise different initiatives on why the pros of the Smartboard outweigh the cons.
